Living in a Dream

Sometimes I just think too much

This is what you get without Drama

I find nothing more depressing than optimism.

The world seems to be holding its breath today. I’m sure it is the last hurrah of winter before spring sets in again…or I could just be hoping against the odds. That’s what it feels like right now. Grey skies and a cold south wind…yeah…depressing after you’ve had a few nice days of sun. ~sighs~

I’m doing my best to remind myself that there are many things I could be doing that are fun and important. But the long drag of winter seems to be taking a toll on my creative mind as well. Last night I was trying to come up with something to do with my new Chromebook and for the life of me I was having trouble with getting any ideas. I even contemplated doing another backstory for my NaNo this year.

So after looking at the character sheets and the outline as far as I had it I decided to do something else. I decided to journal instead. Not really all that exciting, but it gave the Chrome a workout…and me as well. 😀  Getting my laptop splayed writing style to fit onto a small compact keyboard is tricky. Almost like trying to type on a tablet. 😛

But aside from a few programs that are Windows exclusives the Chrome has been doing wonderfully at work. Which is impressing everyone I’m sure. 🙂 But to me it is a really big deal since it may mean that eventually I can get the office away from Microsoft.

It isn’t that I have anything against them really…its just I hate them. Windows is buggy and way too expensive. Microsoft itself just doesn’t want to support the older versions that actually worked. And now there is this whole subscription for an Office suite that is ‘cloud based’. (Translation: Instead of paying x amount of dollars once you pay z every year.) Technically it isn’t a bad deal. Until you realize that the office suite passed its prime about 3 versions ago.

Okay that’s enough computer chatter out of me. I could go on and on, but I really don’t want to. Right now I’m off for lunch then who knows. I may find something really really awesome waiting for me on the web today. 😉

  1. Do you prefer the chromebook over the Ipad?

    • I haven’t worked with an iPad outside of the electronics department, but I would probably still prefer the Chromebook since I’m plugged into Android for my tablet and phone needs. I prefer to stay with systems I know work well together (and I’m cheap). 🙂
