Little packages on my doorstep
‘Tis an ill wind that blows no minds.-Malaclypse the Younger
Be it for good or bad I’ve made the leap to Chrome OS. Considering how much time I spent in the browser I don’t think this will be too difficult. So on with the awesomeness that is my Chromebook. 😀
This thing took less time to load than any Windows system I’ve dealt with. 20 times faster than XP. At least 5 times faster than 7. 8 is the only one that comes close, but the quirks with 8 just doesn’t make it as reliable as say my phone or tablet. Hell, I would take Vista over 8 any day.
The next thing I noticed was how simple and trouble-free it was to load my settings from the browser to the OS. Literally 1 minute after initial updates which took 3 minutes at most. Really much better than Windows can hope to do considering most of their updates take at least 10 minutes after shutdown. A bit annoying for someone trying to get out of the office on time. ~shrugs~
So no I haven’t dropped off the face of the Earth or crawled into some hole in the ground trying to avoid people. I’ve been without a laptop or desktop that functions correctly for a loooong time. But I plan on getting back into my habits again.
Especially the writing. I went to our local art center to hear Erica Bauermeister read from her new book (The Art of Mixing) and stayed for the open mike at the end. It was as good as I remember considering I haven’t been in a long time. A friend of mine from NaNo met me encouraged me to go since she hadn’t been to one before. We had some fun and there was cake.
All in all it was a busy busy weekend. 😀
